Every 15 minutes there will be events such as float relays, wall climb races, diving contests, and a splash event.

Polar Float Parade
Saturday 2 p.m. on the Portneuf River

One of our zaniest events: the Polar Float Parade! For those who dare to jump into the bone chilling Portneuf River, on a float tube, dressed in your craziest costume! All for a chance to win prizes and maybe international fame! In the past, we have seen wonderfully creative costumes, from the Easter Bunny to Santa Claus, to the infamous band KISS floating down the Portneuf. Do you dare jump in with the rest?

Register at Mountain Mayhem, 156 E. Main, sign a waiver and pick up your tube, included in the entry fee. Contestants will enter the river at the Pancake House bridge (253 E. Portneuf Ave) and float for 1/4 mile.

Remember, it isn’t a race, it’s a zany costume contest floating parade! No hurry, just fun!


RUBBER PENGUIN RACE—Sunday, 10:00 a.m.

Drop your rubber penguin in the Portneuf River. Starting Place: Old Pancake House Bridge. $5 for 1 penguin, $20 for 5 penguins.  The fastest penguins earn prizes, including a $50 gift certificate at the Alpaca Inn and a wagon ride at Baker Ranch! Penguins can be pre-purchased at events throughout the weekend, our Merchandise Hut on Main Street, and from the walking penguins.

NOTE: Pre-Register and get a FREE PENGUIN to drop in the river for prizes! (as well as FREE ADMISSION to the Chili Cookoff). Those who pre-register can pick up their wristband at the Riverside Inn's Wine Tasting Event on Friday.

CHILI TASTING—Saturday 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Bring your taste buds to the Lava Community Building (150 N. Center) to try some hot chili samples and bread made by locals, as well as imports.

The American Legion crew will be cooking their famous breakfast 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., cost $5.00. *Breakfast free for Participants registered for the Running of the Bulls, event scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

FIRE PERFORMERS & TORCH LIGHT PARADE—Saturday 6 - 8 p.m.

At Dusk Saturday evening and weather permitting, there will be fire in the sky. Watch local daredevils ski down the L mountain with lit torches. Fireworks will fill the sky to announce the start of the descent. This is amazing to watch.

Saturday evening more fire, between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. fire performers from Lava Flow Fire will entertain your family through four different variations of spinning fire (staff, poi, dart and hoop) and music at the square across the street from Chuck Wagon. This will be great free entertainment for the whole family so bring the kids and enjoy the show!

The starting line is at the Silver Grille for adults and the Chuck Wagon Restaurant for the younger racers. The finish line is at Lava's World Famous Hot Pools.

BINGO—Friday and Saturday 6 p.m.

The Bingo package costs $13.00 and includes 15 regular bingo games, and special games cost $2.00 per game. Total cost for all the games is $21.00. Chili will be served during Saturday night bingo, the cost per bowl will be $2.50.

MERCHANDISE CENTER

Fire & Ice Merchandise will be sold at our Merchandise Center by the Lava Java Coffee Hut (202 E. Main St.). Merchandise includes Hooded Sweatshirts, Wine Glasses, Penguins.
